For more than 20 years, everything in San Paolo has revolved around the theme of Wine for almost two weeks a year. In 1998 the first "Wine Culture Weeks San Paolo" were held in the idyllic alleys of the village, a component locality of Appiano, which with its approx. 900 ha of vines is the largest wine-growing municipality in South Tyrol. Since then, every year between July and August, culture lovers and wine connoisseurs meet to taste exquisite wines and regional specialities. The alleys, the buildings in the Oltradige architectural style and the mighty cathedral form the unique backdrop.
The programme includes concert evenings and expert lectures, taster courses and openings, the "South Tyrolean Wine Promenade" for tasting exquisite wines and distillates and the "Big Bottle Party" with summery rhythms. However, the undisputed highlight is the culinary evening event "Die Gastliche Tafel in den Gassen von St. Pauls". At a 120 m long, beautifully decorated table under the starry sky, dishes are served that starred chef Herbert Hintner and his team create especially for this evening. The seats are limited and are highly coveted every year.
