Fittingly, the “Advent in the Courtyard”, a Christmas market with various activities, takes place in the district of Bethlehem in Termeno

The historic Rynnhof Residence in the Via Schneckenthaler road, actually an organic winery, and the entire district of Bethlehem, the oldest quarter of Termeno, become the meeting place for a peaceful Christmas market every year. About 150 years ago, as the story goes, travelling people drove through Termeno with a pregnant woman. She was urgently looking for a place to give birth... and gave birth to her child in exactly this part of the village.
Original gift ideas have been combined on this special 8th of December since 2013 with natural products, a cake buffet with coffee and punch, the traditional "Traminer Plent" (polenta), hot barley soup, Mulled wine and Christmas melodies. A regular feature in the calendar of the people of Termeno! Part of it is sometimes also a Living Nativity set, as it is shown in several South Tyrolean villages, also along the Wine Road, at Advent time: a theatre play depicting the watch of Mary and Joseph at the baby Jesus in the stable with living persons.
For the little visitors there is a changing programme with activities such as making pizza on a campfire and storytelling. By the way: A few days before, on December 5th, the Krampusse also walk through Termeno, an old custom. One day later, St. Nicholas arrives. Other Advent events in Termeno during this contemplative time are the popular sale of Advent wreaths in the parish hall, the torchlight dance by the Termeno folk dance group, a Christmas picture book cinema and the Christmas tree festival in the tree nursery.
