Between Piazza del Grano and Via Argentieri in Bolzano the stalls of the Charity Christmas Market are located: The individual associations and organisations, all from the social sector, sell homemade goods, Christmas decorations and small gift ideas. First located on Piazza della Mostra, it has been relocated in the course of time and now offers space for about 20 participants.
The first edition of the Charity Christmas Market took place in 2002. The products of the voluntary associations are either made by themselves, by people looked after in the sheltered workshops or are an example of craftsmanship from foreign countries. The proceeds are then donated to charitable projects or finance the daily work of the individual associations.
The purpose of this special Christmas market is to raise awareness among citizens about solidarity issues and to promote and support non-profit associations. It is organised by the Office for Family, Women, Youth and Social Promotion of the Department for Services to the Local Community of the Municipality of Bolzano. It begins and ends together with the Bolzano Christmas Market and is part of it.
