Art galleries on the Wine Road

In the Provincial capital of Bolzano there are several art galleries, such as the Prisma Gallery and the Photo Forum, both situated in the Via Weggenstein road, or the "Kleine Galerie - Piccola Galleria" (Small Gallery) in the Old Town Hall Arcade. For some years now, the latter has been offering space mainly for regional artists and associations. The ar/ge art gallery in the Via Museo road is dedicated also to architecture, design and film. The most famous one, however, the Bolzano Art Gallery, is housed on two levels in the old walls of the former Dominican Monastery on the Dominican Square. It is managed by the Bolzano Council Office of Historical Artistic and Museum Services.

Also the Oltradige area offers space for artists, including the cultural centre Lanserhaus in Appiano. Caldaro, however, features the art gallery called "Forum Cassa di Risparmio" (Hochparterre Salotto) which offers space for painting and creativity, whereas the "Gefängnis Le Carceri" Gallery can be found in a special ambience, in the historic rooms of the former Caldaro County Court prison. The offer is completed by the Niedermair Art Gallery in Nalles, the northernmost village on the South Tyrolean Wine Road, and the Bassa Atesina Kunstforum in Egna: Besides local art, it is aimed to bring contemporary art from other Italian regions or other countries to the Bassa Atesina area.
