A new museum completely dedicated to education and school was inaugurated in 1995 in the Via Cassa di Risparmio road: the Bolzano School Museum, the first one of its kind in Italy. In 2015 the exhibition was revised and transferred to the restored Lampl House, a Renaissance building in the Oltradige construction style. The entrance is a bit hidden on the left side of the listed building and leads to the first floor with its exhibition rooms. The second floor houses the workshop.
The School Museum of Bolzano (Bozen) shows the pedagogical approaches of the last decades with stuffed animals, teaching materials, gym equipment, paintings, old furniture and books and original school reports, as well as the innovations of methodology and didactics. Individual experiences are included in exhibits donated by individuals and a photo archive with 500 historical pictures from the late 19th and the early 20th century. They tell about the German and Italian school tradition between the Trentino and Carinthia. Also the secret catacomb schools in South Tyrol as well as the Alpine Schulheim on Mt. San Vigilio for Jewish pupils are documented.
