Past and future meet under the beautiful Arcades of Bolzano: Here you'll find South Tyrol's first virtual museum, dedicated to the region's technical heritage and managed by the Board of Trustees for Technical Heritage (Kuratorium für Technische Kulturgüter). Since 1995, this board has organised conferences, exhibitions, and events to raise awareness and promote understanding of the local cultural heritage. The associated museum was established in 2005.
200 years of technical and cultural history are illuminated, showcasing hydroelectric power stations, cable cars, mountain passes, railway lines, architectural highlights, and the pioneers in this sector. The museum is structured into three parts: technical milestones, geographical locations, and related historical points of reference. The Tecneum experience can then be continued outdoors. The "Technology Mile" along South Tyrol's cycle path network presents 50 selected examples of such technical heritage.
