At the beginning of the 20th century, a health resort was located on the top of Mt. Penegal: Aristocrats from all over the world came to spend some relaxing days in this place. Still today, a 3.9 km long road which overcomes 358 m of altitude difference, leads from the Mendola Pass to Mt. Penegal. The hotel still exists and reopened its doors in 2011 as PanoramaHotel Penegal.
Mt. Penegal can also be reached on foot, on its top there are a transmission facility, a lookout tower (dilapidated and therefore closed) and the above mentioned hotel. The family-friendly hike follows a pleasant trail and leads in 3 hours from the Mendola Pass to the Small Penegal and further on to the Big Penegal. The panoramic view - especially fabulous in clear weather - opens up on the Dolomites and the Brenta Group in the Trentino, and includes also the Valle dell'Adige valley in South Tyrol and the Val di Non valley in the Trentino.
