The little church, dedicated to St. Justina of Padua, offers a wonderful panoramic view as far as the provincial capital of Bolzano
Image gallery: St. Justina Church in Appiano
In the most beautiful panoramic position in the St. Justina Path above San Paolo rises the St. Justina Church, a small building surrounded by vineyards, popular for weddings and anniversaries. It was built in 1327 by the Von Boymont Family, and its present appearance dates back to the reconstruction around 1650. In the 18th century the chapel became the residence of the Chaplains of Predonico, and it still is today. The Holy Mass is still regularly celebrated in the little church...
Different architectural styles can be recognised at the church: Romanesque at the eastern apse and parts of the entrance wall, Gothic at the church tower with its pyramid roof and Baroque at the high round-arched windows and the round-arched door. Inside there are beautiful pictures and reliefs from the 16th and 17th century. The early baroque carved altar with gables also dates from this period. The place where the chapel is located could not be more beautiful: The walking paths of Appiano Monte and San Paolo as well as the Three Castles Walk lead past the charming church.
