Theatre performances and cabaret are presented on a high level in the Via Argentieri alley no. 19 (Silbergasse, in German) in Bolzano's old town. There's the Carambolage Variety Theatre, the main platform of Bolzano's cabaret scene. Performances of international cabaret artists alternate with plays of local theatre-makers and a wonderful selection of Music.

The theatre was inaugurated in 1996 in the cellar vault of a former hardware storage and features today a small hall with tables and chairs to introduce cabaret artists such as the Austrian Alf Pojer or music bands including Jim Black's AlasNoAxis from the US on the stage. Furthermore there are exhibitions and lectures: About 100 events are held every season. Also the improvisational theatre and the European Cabaret Competition enjoy great popularity.
