In the sunny village of Cornaiano (Girlan), a district of Appiano, wine lovers can learn a lot about the local wines, the work of the winegrowers, viticultural measures and the importance of viticulture for the south of South Tyrol. The nature and wine educational trail "Hoher Weg-Gschleier" shows on 15 information boards how farmers take care of their vineyards and what methods they use for it. The starting point is the parish church at the village square of Cornaiano.
From there the Mühlweg path leads directly to the Cornaiano Natural and Wine Trail (Weinlehrpfad Girlan, in German). About 100 native plant species and rebuilt dry stone walls as well as wooden benches for resting characterise the circular walk. They were created in three years of work by numerous volunteers and local associations. All this is completed by a wonderful panoramic view on the Dolomites, Bolzano and the vineyards of Appiano.
