Every year on the 10th of August the best wines are served under the Medieval Arcades of the old town of Bolzano. This is the "Lorenzinacht" (St. Lawrence Night), when the meteor stream of the Perseids creates a real shooting star rain in the summer night sky. Whoever sees such a "Lawrence Tear" will have his or her wish come true according to the old saying. And what better place to look up to the sky than the atmospheric arcades, with a glass of exquisite Wine in your hand?
The wineries and wine producers present their best wines until midnight and are available for information. In addition to the autochthonous Lagrein and Vernatsch varieties, there will also be a tasting of Santa Maddalena selection wines on the Town Hall Square and regional products such as cheese, bacon and baked goods. The popular evening is organised by the Tourist Office of the Town of Bolzano and the Bolzano wineries. By the way: Since 1998, this "Notte di San Lorenzo" has been the venue for simultaneous events in over 200 towns throughout Italy.
