Europe's only Pinot Blanc event for professional audience and wine enthusiasts has been taking place in Appiano, South Tyrol's largest winegrowing municipality, since 2104. For two days in May, "Spatium Pinot Blanc" features gastronomic creations with selected Pinot Blanc wines, lectures by international speakers and master class tastings. The white wine, known since the 14th century, occupies an increasing area of vineyards in South Tyrol and is gaining an international stage here.
Over 100 selected Pinot Blancs from all over Europe are presented at the "Spatium Pinot Blanc" event by renowned wine producers from the most important growing regions in Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg. The name was chosen deliberately. The Latin word "Spatium" means space in-between: In other words, the Pinot Blanc is given space. The event is organised by the Vineum Appiano Association together with the Laimburg Agricultural and Forestry Experimental Centre and the Appiano Tourist Office.
