Along the South Tyrolean Wine Road there are winery cooperatives, most of them founded after 1905, and traditional private wineries. At the beginning of the new millennium, some winegrowers have joined together to form the association "Independent Winegrowers of South Tyrol" (Freie Weinbauern Südtirol), who produce their own wines and offer them with a common concept.
