Rules and Regulations for Dog Owners

In case to be able to spend relaxing holidays with your dog, please observe the following regulations

  • It is obligatory to carry a duly completed EU pet passport where the necessary anti-rabies inoculation must be listed. Moreover your four-legged friend needs a microchip or a clearly readable tattoo.

  • Puppies younger than three months must not enter Italy.

  • In Italy dogs must be leashed and dog owners always have to carry a muzzle along.

  • On all public transfer and cable cars, seeing-eye dogs and small dogs are transported for free, for all other dogs a ticket must be bought. The use of lead and muzzle is required.

  • And last but not least - the disposal of the excrements of your four-legged friend is also your duty.


Please check also the local regulations of the respective destination: The single municipalities have the right to determine their own rules.
