It is obligatory to carry a duly completed EU pet passport where the necessary anti-rabies inoculation must be listed. Moreover your four-legged friend needs a microchip or a clearly readable tattoo.

Puppies younger than three months must not enter Italy.

In Italy dogs must be leashed and dog owners always have to carry a muzzle along.

On all public transfer and cable cars, seeing-eye dogs and small dogs are transported for free, for all other dogs a ticket must be bought. The use of lead and muzzle is required.

And last but not least - the disposal of the excrements of your four-legged friend is also your duty.
