This hike leads us through the forest above the Bassa Atesina area to the well-known wine-growing region of the municipality of Egna

We start our late spring hike opposite the lovely San Floriano Church near Laghetti (Laag), right beside the hydroelectric power plant where a signpost indicates "Klösterle". After some metres we reach this former hospice, one of only a few fully preserved hospices in Europe. Today it is venue for concerts and theatre performances, above all in summer months. The path takes us uphill through the deciduous forest and gets narrower - sometimes it is covered with leaves and only partly visible. At 400 m a.s.l. we reach a junction: the Dürer Path proceeds on the right, we follow the trail on the left in a northerly direction towards Mazzon.
Along a pleasant forest path we reach the vineyards of Mazzon. Following the Mazzon High Route (Mazoner Hochweg) for the next section we arrive at Caldiff Castle. The ruin offers an amazing view on the south of South Tyrol, especially on the area between the famous Lake Caldaro and the village of Montagna. After a visit to the old wineries and the church of Mazzon we descend to Egna (Neumarkt) where our tour ends.
