Monte is a district of the municipality of Appiano. It is the youngest part of this municipality but boasts a long history
Until 2016, Appiano Monte still belonged to San Michele, before it was incorporated into the municipality of Appiano as a separate district. It reaches up to the Mendola ridge. Numerous forests characterise this area, but apple orchards and extensive vineyards can also be found here, and the growing sites guarantee excellent wines.
Numerous manors and castles here tell of a long history. For example, Freudenstein Castle, known for its Golf Academy, and Palù-Schulthaus Castle, which houses a museum of medieval living culture.
From Appiano Monte you can enjoy numerous beautiful hikes, e.g. to the famous Ice Holes or the well-known 3-Castles Hike.
