As Riva di Sotto is located in the Val d’Adige valley basin in the direction of Merano, it is an ideal starting point for cycling and hiking tours in the area of Merano and surroundings.
The little church is dedicated to S. Nicolò. It is located opposite the residence Hungerhausen, a historic building in the little village. In 1512 the church was dedicated to the patron saint S. Nicolò, the protector of merchants and travellers. This patron saint was not chosen accidentally, as in Riva di Sotto once there was a toll station. The church steeple was added in the 17th century.
Riva di Sotto is surrounded by fruit orchards and vineyards and provides above all tranquillity and relaxation.
