In San Antonio (523 m a.s.l.), a district of Caldaro, the valley station of the famous Mendola funicular is located
S. Antonio in Caldaro is above all known for its special station. The Mendola Funicular dates back to the year 1903, only in 12 minutes it overcomes a gradient of 64% and an altitude difference of 850 m. It is one of the steepest funiculars throughout Europe. Very close, there is the church of this village, which dates back to the 15th and 16th century. However, also more ancient murals as well as frescoes of the 14th century were found.
Along the road to Pozzo you can admire the facade of Castel Giovanelli. It is a charming building built in the Oltradige construction style, situated on a hill that is covered by vineyards.
On the southern border of San Antonio, there is the sports zone of Caldaro. On the other side of the road, the adventure park (the Caldaro High Rope Course) provides the possibility for climbing among the treetops of the Castelvecchio forest.
