The hamlet at 1,330 m a.s.l. is a typical South Tyrolean mountain settlement, surrounded by the forests and meadows of Monte Corno Nature Park

Cauria is part of the municipality of Salorno and counts only 50 inhabitants. There is no transit-traffic up here, but untouched nature and an astonishingly beautiful view on the south of South Tyrol, ranging from the Val d’Adige to Lake Caldaro.
The meadows and forests are ideal for extended walks in the nature park, e.g. to the Prato del Re (King’s Meadow), to the Lago Nero (Black Lake), to the Lago Bianco (White Lake) or on the Corno di Trodena mountain. Another route stretches across the Sella di Cauria to the Grosswiese Alpine pasture above the Valle dei Molini. If you are well-exercised you can also walk up from the 1,100 m lower Laghetti or from Salorno to Caprile (trails no. 7 or 8). Among cyclists, the ascent from the village, boasting double-digit gradients, is a real challenge.
Centre of the mountain village is the Santa Margherita church outside the village.
