Where the famous waterfall of Vilpiano plunges down from the Montezoccolo mountain into the Val d'Adige, there is the little village of Vilpiano (250 m a.s.l.) with its 850 inhabitants. Three towers catch your sight in the village: the little one of the ancient church, the modern tower of the new parish church and the tower of the fire brigade centre, as Vilpiano is the main seat of the provincial fire brigades and boasts an exercising area.
The Val d'Adige and Vilpiano are mainly characterised by fruit-growing. The village has its own MeBo road exit and is connected to the railroad. Also the Adige cycle track Via Claudia Augusta passes by. If you stay in Vilpiano, you absolutely need to visit the beautiful waterfall. In a few minutes only you can reach it from the centre, the path leads past the recreation area of Bachau. By the way, those who love arts don't have to miss the "Gallery Willy", hosting exhibitions on a regular basis.
This is also where the funicular starts from the Val d'Adige to the Monte Salto mountain and Meltina. Not only for this reason visitors have got a wide range of possibilities in this place, such as mountain bike tours in the plain or hiking on the Monte Salto.
