Sella is located on a plateau above the area surrounding Lake Caldaro and is characterised by its Romanesque church
In the northwest of Termeno, at a terrace extending at an altitude of about 450 m a.s.l., there is the little component locality of Sella. Particularly striking is its small but mighty church dedicated to San Maurizio, dating back to the Roman period. On the facades and above all on the interior walls, there are numerous frescoes and paintings that are considered to have their origins in the 14th and 15th century.
The origins of the settlement date back to Antiquity, probably already the Romans used to cultivate wine in this area. No wonder, as the sun-drenched location seems to be made for vine-growing, and is still today one of the best location of the municipality of Termeno.
The farms and residences round the church form a little settlement that is inhabited by about 100 people. The view on Termeno, the area around Lake Caldaro and on South Tyrol's south can be enjoyed particularly well from here.
