Vadena is located about 10 km from Bolzano and can be seen from afar due to the new bridge of Vadena, stretching across the Adige river. This strategically located and nevertheless rural municipality would be an insider's tip for a stay, but except in Campi al Lago, there are only a few accommodations.
Finally some attractions of Vadena: hiking at the Monte di Mezzo, e.g. to the Castelchiaro ruin, along the Valle della Primavera (Spring Valley) or up to the Monticolo Lakes, cycling along the Adige river on the cycle track passing at the village, or an excursion at the eastern lakeside of Lake Caldaro. In the north of Vadena, there is by the way a driving security centre, where drivers can exercise and improve their driving skills. By the way: also the Laimburg School of Agriculture and Research Centre with its famous rock-cut cellar belong to Vadena.
